Best of...

NEIL YOUNG
My goodness, do I love Neil Young.  Don't worry, I have proposed to him, I'm waiting for that reply still...
He has been one of the best artist in the history music, in my personal opinion....see if you agree....

CSNY-Down by the River (LIVE Big Sur 1969)
I love the dancing in this video, I was really born in the wrong time period.  But I will tell you when I saw Neil perform this last summer at the Ryman, electric, I was AMAZED. So good. I wish I could go back. Or that the Ryman would let you record...

Neil Young- Southern Man

Neil Young- The Needle and the Damage Done
Really great song, one of my favorites

Neil Young- Heart of Gold (LIVE at Farm Aid 1985)
This and "Helplessly Hoping" (CSNY) were the first 2 songs that got me into Neil Young.  Also I have never heard of the Farm Aid concert but it's in Illinois and Willie Nelson, Neil Young and Dave Matthews will be there in 2011...road trip anyone?

A little something before my test...

Don't worry MOTHER, I studied.

Flux Pavilion- Cracks
Ahh Flux Pavilion, aka Joshua Steele.  Joshua Steele is from Germany but he is awesome!  I heard about him from my favorite music blog ( Thissongissick.com ), which is where you can also download many of his songs! It definitely reminds me of the songs that Pretty Lights uses for lyrics, but with a heavier more electric beat than Bassnectar.
I would LOVE for him to do a US tour....that would be INSANE.

Flux Pavilion- I Can't Stop

Flux Pavilion- Got 2 Know

Flux Pavilion- Gold Dust
Ellen hates this song, HAHA.

DAVE RAWLINGS MACHINE

I first heard Dave Rawlings Machine in August 2009, they were one of 3 openers for Old Crow Medicine Show in Nashville.

Dave Rawlings Machine- Ruby (LIVE)
I love this song. Dave Rawlings Machine is composed of David Rawlings, Gillian Welch, as well as artists from Old Crow Medicine Show, Bright Eyes, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.  On the debut album, Rawlings wrote 7 of the 9 songs, the other 2, "Monkey and the Engineer" written by Jesse Fuller and "Method Acting/Cortez the Killer" Written by Conor Oberst and Neil Young.  If you ever get a chance to buy this album please do, it is one of my top 5 favorite albums of all times.

BONUS:
Dave Rawlings Machine- Queen Jane Approximately
This song is not on "A Friend of a Friend" but I absolutely love this cover.  Originally by Bob Dylan from the "Highway 61 Revisited" album.

Cover

You will not believe these...so awesome

ORIGINAL:
Kid Cudi- Pursuit Of Happiness
I love me some Cudi and I can't wait to see him at Rites of Spring in Nashville! But this music video is sick, it blows my mind everytime I see it. Kudos Cudi

COVER:
Lissie- Pursuit of Happiness (LIVE)
I found about about Lissie's cover online and I am sooooooo glad I did, I love it!

ORIGINAL:
Band of Horses- No One's Gonna Love You
This song is what got me into Band of Horses, so prettyzzz.  AND I am SO mad I'm not seeing them on Friday :(

COVER:
Cee-Lo Green-No One's Gonna Love You
Cee-Lo Green is the lead singer from Gnarls Barkley and man, does he have a voice.  I read an article about him re-doing the Band of Horses song and I though no way was this going to be as good as the original, but it is pretty close.

ORIGINAL:
Bob Marley- I Shot the Sheriff (Live 1979)
Bob Marley is a reggae legend.

COVER:
Eric Clapton-I Shot the Sheriff (Live 2010)
Long intro but worth is because you get a close up of Eric Clapton jamming out.  When i saw him live in Nashville and he played this song it was sooooo exciting. Such a great cover.

ORIGINAL:
Radiohead- Black Star
I am a big fan of Radiohead (you can thank "In Rainbows for that") but I am not a huge fan of this song.

COVER:
Gillian Welch- Black Star (LIVE Bonnaroo 2007)
Until Gillian Welch covered this song I had never heard of it, but i absolutely LOVE it.  Also David Rawlings looks funny haha.

Sam Beam

yummm Iron & Wine

Iron & Wine- Lean into the Light (Bonus Track)
This is off of Iron & Wine's newest album "Kiss Each Other Clean".  I really do love this album but it is very over produced.  Sam Beam is a wonderful artist and sounds so much better raw.

BONUS:
NPR Tiny Desk Concert- Iron & Wine acoustic
Sam Bush gave a Tiny Desk Concert for NPR to promote his new album "Kiss Each Other Clean".  Once you watch this you will under stand why I enjoy hearing him raw, his voice is perfect and he can play the guitar.  Set List--Half Moon (0:10), Big Burned Hand (4:50), Tree by the River (BEAUTIFUL SONG, what got me into this album) (9:45), and cult classic- Naked as we Came (15:10)
If you have never seen a Tiny Desk concert besides this one I urge you to check them out, they are really cool and they have some great artist perform.

Whoops

I didn't post yesterday.  You can thank my nasty hangover & basketball games for that.

The Dirty Guv'nahs- We'll be the Light
I LOVE LOVE LOVE this band. They are out of Knoxville, TN and have just started hitting it big.  They have 2 albums out ("The Dirty Guv'nahs" and "Youth is in Our Blood") and they are both amazing.  I would love to see them live, ahhhh.

BONUS:
The Dirty Guv'nahs- Blue Rose Stroll (LIVE 4/10/09)
They mention T-town. I don't know how much more perfect you can make a song.

Study Break

Math is killing me.

BRENTON DUVALL- Ambien Sleepy Trip
My favorite guy ever.  He is a sophomore at Colorado but his brother is a senior at Alabama. Every song he has remixed has been AMAZING.

Bonus:
Brenton Duvall-Blow that Skrilla

Evil Women REMIXXXXXX

This song is great.  Never have been a big Hoodie Allen fan, but I love me some Electric Light Orchestra.

Hoodie Allen- Evil Women (ft. Mike Posner and ELO)
I really like how they sped up "Evil Women" and then did their own thing over it.  Mike Posner sounds like a girl, but he always does.

Kayne West

SYKE.  This song is awesome remake of "All of the Lights", check it out.

Cris Cab- All of the Lights
A reggae, slower, acoustic guitar version of "All of the Lights".  This guy is awesome and sounds great!

Weekend

So glad I made it to Saturday.  And I even studied today! for a test thats on Thursday, crazy.

Ben L'Oncle Soul- Seven Nation Army
These guys are amazing.  RIP White Stripes, but I am sure Jack White would be impressed.  This guy is 26 years old, from France and has made it pretty big over there.  And he always dresses like that (thus why he calls himself  "Uncle Ben")

BONUS:
Ben L'Oncle Soul- Crazy
AMAZING. Gnarls Barkley Cover.  Fast forward to 0:45 and that's when this song starts.  I really want his to do some shows in the US, the closest he has gotten was coming to Canada, once.

Oh, Old Crow...

Old Crow Medicine Show, definitely one of the best modern folk bands. "Wagon Wheel" is a song that just about everyone knows, for good reason

Old Crow Medicine Show- Back to New Orleans
Fastforward to 1 minute, thats when that guy shuts up.  "Back to New Orleans" has only appeared on the Caroline EP that was released in 2008.  The other 2 songs on there have been played often and I knew about them but had never heard "Back to New Orleans" till january of 2011.  It is a great song, classic Old Crow.

ONE OF THE BEST SONGS EVAAAA

Oh man, when this song first came out, I think I listened to it like a million times, on repeat. It was sort of an addiction....

Pretty Lights-After Midnight
Well Pretty Lights is definitely one of my favorite groups, hands down and I have seen them live twice!  But the fact that he included "midnight rider" by The Allman Brothers just makes this song a million times better.

Ohhh friday

This morning was painful, especially since I woke up at 9am?

Mumford & sons-Go to sleep
So crazy that mumford did this for an encore...it's an Avett Brothers song! but it's one of my favorites and Mumford DID NOT disappoint.

Wonderwall REDONE

This is truly amazing and I am addicted to it. I never thought 2 songs could match up this well until this combo

Wonderwall you know- Fissunix
Wonderwall is one of those songs that never gets old.  I have never heard of Two Door Cinema, but after this I might check them out....
Enjoy

RANDOM

I think I found this song on another blog that didn't have much...

The Lighthouse and the Whaler- Under Mountain, Underground
This reminds me so much of Bon Iver except it's not only acoustic guitar.  It's rockin.

Stress is the best.

Pre-workout I though I would put up this awesome song. It's great and I'm in love with it.  If you don't like it the first time, listen to it next week because I promise you will love it.

Daladubz- Pink Elephants VIP
OH YES, PINK ELEPHANTS!

p.s. I am so proud of my self for getting videos on here.

Why Not One for a Rainy Day?

This song always cheers me up, also it's the song that got me into The Grateful Dead. An oldy but a goodie.

Grateful Dead- Box of Rain
Ahhh, the Grateful Dead, where to start.  How about most amazing band of all time? You don't get that many followers and worshipers just for being good looking.  "Box of Rain" just always seems to cheer me up.  And I must say, "American Beauty" (album from which this song is on) is definitely one of the best albums ever made, hands down.

What a Wonderful Evening

So while I can't sleep...which is often (which sucks).  I decided to start this blog, dedicated to music I find....so here it goes.....

Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros- Home (Whole-Z Remix)
Easily one of the greatest new bands currently.  The way Edward Sharpe (Alexander Ebert) and Jade Castrinos harmonize together is just amazing.  So I was very impressed when Whole-Z made a remix and the song was still great.

BONUS:

Alexander Ebert- Truth
A side project for Alexander Ebert was his recent release of his solo album "Alexander".  While his band is amazing, so are some of these solo songs.  But I do have to say, "Truth" is my favorite.
